  • Multicast Forward protocol is used for creating distribution tree and performing multicast forwarding.It also ensure that the multicast distribution tree is loop-free.

    First， RPF check is performed to make sure the multicast packets is sending away from the source.This can help to guarantee loop-free of the multicast distribution tree. Second，forming the multicast routing table using multicast routing protocol.Multicast pakets received on the RPF interface will be forwarded out interfaces in the outgoing interface list of the multicast routing table entry；
    Third，maintain the multicast routing table and distribution tree.
